It’s 7:30am 9/17/2010 Tokyo time, 6:30pm 9/16/2010 back at home and it feels weird to be up this ‘early’. My room is nice and I’m all moved in… kind of. I have two bags coming still and they’re supposed to get here between 12:00 and 15:00. Really not used to the military time.
There’s a spider on my ceiling- not exactly sure where anymore because he’s disappeared. I’ll have to catch him and stick him outside lol. My book bag’s contents are spread across my bed, American cell phone sitting useless on my desk, and half of my electronics are packed away.
I’ve never felt so out of place in a place that I feel like I’m home in. I feel as if I’ve never studied Japanese before in my life because of how little I’m understanding. But the weird thing is that everything feels familiar and almost homey. At the same time I really miss being home and am sitting here wondering what the hell I’ve gotten myself into. Anytime I think about home- I start tearing up too. In a way, deep down- I really don’t think I was ready for this. You have to leave safety of home eventually though… I’m not sure this was the best way to do it.
On a lighter note, the mosquitoes are attacking the screen doors that are letting cool air into my room. It’s strange knowing that I’m a good 10 minute walk from Ikenoue station and maybe a 10 minute train ride from Shibuya and yet looking out over my small terrace and seeing all the bamboo right there. It almost feels like I’m looking out my window at home in a weird way.
Yuki, the girl who picked me up at the airport, was extremely nice to a rambling, barely speaking English well me yesterday as well. I think, technically, that I was up for more than 24 hours straight, considering that I didn’t sleep well or much on the plane. I still feel tired but the Swiss girl next door is going to go out with me today in order for us to get our Alien registration going. Besides- I have to get used to the difference in time here.
And also, we have to speak to Yamanobe-san, our ‘landlord’ for lack of a better term about getting internet in the rooms as there is none. So when this gets up on my blog- I’ll be sure to put a PS as to the Internet status for those who want to know.
…And it’s 8am and there’s a loud intercom going (very strange). Oh well. The mosquitoes are still attacking my door and the spider is gone. I’m going to study Japanese and then leave to go with Ariane- at least I think that’s what her name is. My stomach’s growling too~~ おなかがぺかぺかです。
Hm~ to studying! 勉強しますよ。
